Ida is from San Antonio and earned her bachelor's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.
She explains her goal as an educator is to make a difference in students' lives.
"Every day is a new experience. The persity is great in the sense that every student has different needs, but they are very loving. It's great knowing I can do my part to support them.'
She explains the great part about working in Edgewood is that everyone comes together regardless of the distance.
As for being nominated Teacher of the Year, Tello says she feels honored. "I do my job because I love what I do. For my colleagues to recognize me as someone who makes an impact on our school, students and the district is incredible.'
